Teen Killed in Arlington Car Accident

Arlington, Texas. November 18, 2017

The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash in the 3700 block of Redstone Drive on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 6:20 p.m. A Toyota Camry was backing out of a private driveway on Redstone Drive in an attempt to drive eastbound on the roadway. A Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling eastbound on Redstone and struck the passenger side of the Camry while the car was in the process of backing up. The impact caused the Camry to leave the roadway and come to rest in a grassy area nearby. The pickup veered off the roadway and struck a fence and light pole. 

The driver and sole occupant of the Camry, identified as 18-year old female Alexis Butler, was transported to Medical Center of Arlington Hospital. She was pronounced deceased on Friday, November 17, 2017 due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the pickup, a 31-year old man, reported to investigators that he briefly looked down from the roadway while performing a “re-test” on an ignition interlock device attached to the vehicle when the crash occurred. 

Detectives are still in the process of conducting a reconstruction of the crash scene to determine the relevant facts surrounding the crash including a vehicle analysis of the event data recorder. The man was not injured and not impaired at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed at this time however the investigation continues.
