Deregulation in Texas Can Save You Cash
Thu. Jun 01, 2017 06:36 PM

Most Texas residents do not realize that Electricity was deregulated in Texas on January 1st, 2002 with the approval of Texas Senate Bill 7. Deregulation opened the opporunity for electricity providers to compete for customers throughout the state. A customer can go to sites such as Electricity Shopping and enter their zip codes to get the lowest prices available in their area. The prices are quoted per kilowatt.  As an example, TXU was charging me .12 cents per kilowatt and I averaged 1,200 kilowatts per month.  I was paying around $144 a month for my electric bill.  A simple search at electricityshopping.com quoted me .07 cents per kilowatt giving me a total of $84 dollars per month. That's a difference of $60 dollars per month saving me a total of $720 dollars in a year.   Use your power of choice and shop around for the best electricity deal.
